Inez Tan, partner at Office Winhov, focuses on the renovation and repurposing of existing buildings. Her work sits at the intersection of architecture, urban history and social context, with particular attention to public buildings that build on the identity of the city. She believes that thorough research within a dynamic urban context is essential to the relevance and quality of a project. By carefully unpacking historical, social and spatial layers, she develops designs that make a meaningful contribution to their surroundings.
Inez studied at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan in Stockholm and graduated from Delft University of Technology in 2016. She previously worked at Go Hasegawa & Associates in Tokyo; since 2016 she has been working at Office Winhov. In 2023 she taught at the Architectuur Academie Maastricht. That same year she won the Architect of the Year award for the work of Office Winhov, and with the National Holocaust Museum she won the BNA Best Building of the Year. In 2024 she was nominated for the Abe Bonnema Prize for Young Architects. From 2026 Inez is a member of the Programme Council of ARCAM (Architectuurcentrum Amsterdam).
