First Prize, competition Herbag Areal

Wingender Hovenier Architects in collaboration with haratori Architects and Landscape Architects Lorenz Eugster have won an invited competition for the new development of Herbag Areal in Schmerikon (Switzerland). Herbag Areal is a former concrete factory on the eastern edge of Lake Zurich.
The new plan is based on a phased development of 200 houses that will be built on elevated platforms while the characteristic landscape along the site will be expanded and strengthened.
The design team have been commissioned to design the urban plan for the area and to elaborate the architectural design. The dwellings will be developed in stages that correspond with the urban plan.
