Tectonics in building culture: Brickwork, Erasmus workshop
How heavy is a brick? What are the basic properties of a processed piece of clay? What does the stacking of bricks bring to the idea of a wall? These were the fundamental questions occupying students and teachers during a ten-day workshop at a brick factory in the Dutch countryside.
The workshop was conducted by Machiel Spaan and Jan Peter Wingender for the University of Lichtenstein, Academie van Bouwkunst Amsterdam, NTNU Trontheim, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Kopenhagen, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya Barcelona, University of Ljubljana and the School of Architecture Dublin.
