Jan Peter Wingender (b. 1965) studied at the Eindhoven University of Technology TU/e) and the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam. He worked for Rudy Uytenhaak, after which he founded his own firm with Joost Hovenier, Wingender Hovenier Architecten, in 1995.

In addition to his commitment to the designs, Jan Peter regularly gives lectures, writes on architecture and is a member of various advisory committees and juries. He has been a guest lecturer and examiner at diverse architectural schools in the Netherlands and abroad. From 2003 to 2007, he was head of the architecture department at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam. As of 2010, he is a professor at the Amsterdam School of the Arts, heading up the research project ‘Tectonics in Contemporary Brick Architecture’.
